ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday paid an early morning visit to the T-Chowk Flyover project site to review the pace and quality of ongoing construction works on the major infrastructure scheme aimed at easing traffic congestion at the entry point to the federal capital.

During the visit, the minister was briefed on the progress achieved so far, including the completion of 100 percent work on piles, pile caps, and girder casting, while 60 percent of protective wall construction has also been finalized.

Expressing satisfaction over the overall progress and quality standards, Mr. Naqvi directed officials to ensure timely completion of the project without compromising on construction standards. He emphasized that future expansion of the Grand Trunk (GT) Road should be kept in view while finalizing the remaining phases of the project, calling for comprehensive planning in this regard.

“The T-Chowk Flyover will provide signal-free access to the federal capital for commuters traveling from GT Road, significantly improving traffic flow and reducing travel time,” the minister said, reiterating that public convenience and service remain the government’s foremost priorities.

He also instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and other relevant departments to ensure aesthetically appealing landscaping and horticulture around the project area to enhance its visual appeal.

Officials briefed the minister that the work was progressing strictly according to the approved timeline and would be completed within the stipulated period.

Inspector General of Islamabad Police, the Deputy Commissioner, CDA members, and other senior officials accompanied the interior minister during the visit.
