ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan on Tuesday held a meeting with the newly appointed Inspector General of National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP), retired Capt. Asadullah Khan, to review priority areas of road safety, enforcement and institutional strengthening.

The meeting, also attended by Motorway Police Additional IG Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry, focused on ongoing reforms within the NHMP and the need to further enhance patrolling efficiency, emergency response and commuter facilitation across the national highways network.

Minister Aleem Khan welcomed IG Asadullah Khan to his new role and expressed confidence that his administrative background and operational experience would help elevate service delivery standards. He assured the ministry’s full support in modernising the force, improving technological capabilities and expanding coordination with other national agencies.

The newly appointed IG briefed the minister on his immediate roadmap, including measures to improve traffic discipline, reduce accident rates and strengthen oversight mechanisms on motorways and highways.

The minister emphasised that ensuring safe, efficient and reliable road travel remains a top priority under the Communications Ministry and pledged continued facilitation for all initiatives aimed at public safety and better governance.

The meeting concluded with a resolve to work jointly for stronger enforcement and improved user experience across Pakistan’s road infrastructure.
