ISLAMABAD: Inspector General National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) Sultan Ahmed Choudhary on Friday paid rich tribute to the force’s martyrs and announced a series of measures aimed at strengthening enforcement, improving service delivery, and enhancing welfare support for officers and their families.
Chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad, the IG said the sacrifices of the martyrs were a guiding light for the department and reaffirmed that the families of all fallen officers would receive full support from the Motorway Police.
He praised the performance of officers who, despite harsh weather conditions, continued to maintain a high standard of duty. “Ensuring the safety of travellers’ life and property remains the foremost priority of the Motorway Police,” he said, adding that all available resources must be utilised for preventing accidents and curbing highway-related crimes.
Sultan Ahmed Choudhary emphasised strict and impartial enforcement of traffic laws, warning that corruption would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He directed field formations to intensify patrolling and adopt proactive measures to minimise road accidents during the winter season.
He said the department would adopt a comprehensive strategy for the welfare and professional development of officers, while promoting teamwork and inter-departmental cooperation to further modernise the Motorway Police on contemporary lines.
The IG stressed that collective effort and disciplined teamwork were essential for building a more effective and technologically advanced Motorway Police force capable of meeting present-day challenges on national highways and motorways.
