ISLAMABAD: With just days left before the January 15 deadline, Islamabad authorities have intensified their appeal to vehicle owners to complete M Tag registration to avoid post deadline restrictions. Officials warned that vehicles without registered M Tags may face difficulties while entering major roads and checkpoints across the federal capital.
According to official figures, more than 135,000 vehicles have already been registered under the M Tag system, reflecting growing public participation. In the past twenty four hours alone, nearly three thousand vehicles completed the process, indicating an increase in compliance as the cutoff date approaches. Authorities remain hopeful that this momentum will continue in the coming days.
The M Tag system has been introduced as a key reform to improve traffic management and streamline toll related processes in Islamabad. Officials stated that the initiative will enable smoother vehicle movement, better monitoring and reduced congestion at key entry and exit points. Daily commuters and commercial vehicle owners have been advised to prioritise registration to ensure uninterrupted travel.
Facilitation and registration centres across Islamabad are fully functional and equipped to handle large volumes of applicants. Officials confirmed that trained staff are available on site to assist citizens throughout the process, including document verification and installation of the M Tag. The administration has also ensured that the procedure remains simple and time efficient.
Vehicle owners are only required to present basic documents, including the vehicle registration book or card and the national identity card of the owner. Authorities clarified that no additional paperwork is needed and that registration can be completed quickly at designated centres without unnecessary delays.
To avoid last minute inconvenience, officials have urged citizens not to wait until the final days. Awareness campaigns through public notices and digital platforms are ongoing to highlight the importance of early compliance. The district administration reiterated that timely registration will help maintain smooth traffic flow and prevent congestion after the January 15 deadline.
