RAWALPINDI: Construction work on the long awaited Rawalpindi Ring Road project continues at full pace despite the recent surge in petroleum prices, with authorities saying the major road infrastructure scheme remains on track for timely completion.

Officials involved in the project confirmed that sufficient stocks of construction materials are available and supply chains remain stable, ensuring uninterrupted progress on the strategic road corridor. The Rawalpindi Ring Road is considered one of the most important transport infrastructure projects aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity between Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Deputy Project Director Ashfaq Sulheri said the recent increase in fuel prices had not disrupted the transportation of construction materials or slowed work at project sites. He added that available material stock was sufficient to sustain ongoing construction activity until Eidul Fitr, allowing engineers and contractors to maintain the current pace of development.

However, officials acknowledged that sustained increases in petroleum prices could potentially influence the overall cost of the project. Authorities said the financial impact of the fuel price surge would be reviewed later this month to determine whether adjustments to the project budget may be required.

Meanwhile, a high level meeting chaired by Rawalpindi Commissioner Abdul Aamer Khattak reviewed progress on ongoing development initiatives under the Rawalpindi Development Authority. Officials presented detailed updates on the Rawalpindi Ring Road and related projects, including proposed economic zones, transport facilities and supporting infrastructure planned along the corridor.

The commissioner noted that the Rawalpindi Ring Road project is expected to significantly boost regional economic activity by improving road transport efficiency, reducing traffic congestion and encouraging investment. Authorities believe the corridor will stimulate industrial growth, create employment opportunities and support modern urban planning in the rapidly expanding twin cities region.
