ISLAMABAD: In a decisive move against hidden wealth, the Federal Board of Revenue has confiscated three high value plots in Islamabad worth Rs 60 million under its intensified Anti Benami Initiative, signaling a renewed push to dismantle proxy property ownership networks.

The operation was carried out by the Anti Benami Initiative Zone I Islamabad after authorities uncovered that the properties were registered in the names of individuals lacking the financial capacity to own such assets. Investigations revealed that the plots had been allotted through a housing society using front names to conceal actual ownership.

Officials issued notices to the registered individual, who failed to provide any credible evidence of financial means during scrutiny. This raised serious concerns regarding the legitimacy of ownership and triggered formal legal proceedings under the Benami law framework.

The confiscated properties include three corner plots measuring between 520 and 600 square yards, located within a housing scheme in Islamabad. Following due process, all ownership rights and titles have now been transferred to the federal government after enforcement of confiscation orders.

The decision was upheld by the Benami Transactions Adjudicating Authority, which concluded that the registered owner was merely a fictitious or proxy holder. Acting on the ruling, authorities took peaceful physical possession of the plots with assistance from local law enforcement agencies.

FBR officials emphasized that the crackdown will continue across the country, warning that individuals involved in benami transactions will face strict legal consequences. The move underscores the government’s commitment to transparency, tax compliance, and eliminating illegal asset holdings from Pakistan’s real estate sector.
