ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan reviewed major upgrades on the Murree Expressway, directing further improvements to enhance travel comfort and ensure modern standards for commuters heading to the hill station.
During his visit, the minister said the upgradation work has been completed in phases, transforming the expressway into a more efficient and visually improved route. He stressed that travelers from Islamabad to Murree should experience safe and high quality infrastructure.
Abdul Aleem Khan inspected newly developed rest areas and mosques along the expressway and instructed the National Highway Authority to construct additional facilities on both sides of the road. He emphasised that these rest areas must be modern, well maintained and equipped with essential amenities.
The minister also highlighted the importance of inclusive facilities, noting that separate prayer arrangements for women have been incorporated. He directed authorities to ensure uninterrupted water supply, cleanliness and proper maintenance at all service points.
To address traffic congestion, particularly in the Lower Topa area, the minister ordered the design of a new roundabout aimed at improving traffic flow and enhancing road safety. He also instructed officials to standardise construction designs across the route for consistency and quality.
Local residents and travelers welcomed the improvements, expressing appreciation for the government’s efforts. Abdul Aleem Khan acknowledged public support and reiterated the commitment to maintaining the expressway as a safe, efficient and comfortable travel corridor.
