RAWALPINDI: Authorities have issued a strict completion deadline for the Rawalpindi Ring Road project, directing contractors to finish all construction work by May 30 in a decisive push to fast track one of the city’s most critical infrastructure developments.
The directive was given by Commissioner Abdul Aamer Khattak during a detailed site visit, where he reviewed progress alongside officials from the Frontier Works Organisation and Punjab Communication and Works Department.
Starting from the Thalian Interchange, the commissioner inspected construction quality, pace and adherence to timelines. Officials briefed him that the project has reached approximately 85 percent completion, with major structural components nearing final stages.
Emphasising urgency, Khattak instructed authorities to ensure uninterrupted work and resolve any bottlenecks immediately. He made it clear that while speed is critical, there must be no compromise on construction quality or safety standards.
The Ring Road is expected to transform traffic management in Rawalpindi by diverting heavy flow away from congested urban centers. Upon completion, it will significantly reduce travel time, improve connectivity and ease pressure on major city arteries.
Beyond traffic relief, the project is being positioned as a major economic corridor. Plans are underway to develop logistics hubs, industrial zones, business centers and residential communities along the route, turning the Ring Road into a powerful engine for regional growth and long term urban development.
