Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has directed the immediate completion of all remaining works on the Islamabad Murree Expressway, setting a final one week deadline and signalling that the major tourism corridor is ready for inauguration in the coming days. The minister inspected the expressway to review beautification measures, expansion works and recently completed infrastructure upgrades.

During the visit, Abdul Aleem Khan expressed satisfaction over the overall pace of development and stressed that no further delays would be tolerated. He instructed the relevant authorities and contractors to ensure that all pending tasks are completed within the stipulated timeline so that the project can be formally inaugurated by the prime minister at the earliest.

Officials briefed the minister on ongoing finishing works, including landscaping, road safety features and service facilities aimed at improving travel comfort for commuters and tourists. Special emphasis was placed on enhancing the expressway’s aesthetic appeal to align with its role as a key gateway to Murree and other northern hill destinations.

The minister also reviewed arrangements for rest areas, traffic management and public convenience facilities. He underlined the importance of maintaining high construction standards, stating that the expressway must offer a safe, smooth and pleasant travel experience, particularly during peak tourist seasons when traffic volume increases significantly.

Tourists and regular commuters have welcomed the improvements, noting that the upgraded expressway has already reduced travel time and improved driving conditions. Many travellers have appreciated the focus on beautification and smoother road surfaces, describing the route as more comfortable and visually appealing than before.

Abdul Aleem Khan said the Islamabad Murree Expressway is a vital infrastructure project that supports tourism, regional connectivity and economic activity. He added that timely completion reflects the government’s commitment to improving road networks across the country. With final works nearing completion, the expressway is expected to be opened soon, providing a modern and efficient travel corridor linking the federal capital with one of Pakistan’s most popular tourist destinations.
