Citizens in Islamabad are welcoming a major shift in public service delivery with the launch of the Pakistan Asaan Khidmat Centre in the Mauve Area of Sector G 9. The state of the art facility offers more than 60 government services at a single location, reducing long queues and visits to multiple offices.

The centre provides a wide range of services including passports, Nadra documentation, domicile certificates, apostille and Foreign Office verifications, marriage, birth and death certificates, police services, as well as CDA, MCI and utility related facilities. Most departments operate through physical counters, while some utility services are available digitally through interactive screens.

Established by the federal government through the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication with support from Azerbaijan, the centre is housed in a renovated block of the former Pakistan Public Works Department building. The facility is modeled on Azerbaijan’s ASAN Xidmət system and was financed by Baku, while the Capital Development Authority carried out renovation work.

The National Information Technology Board is operating the centre daily from 8am to 8pm. Visitors are greeted by trained and courteous staff, with reception desks and volunteers present on all floors to guide citizens efficiently through the process.

According to PAKC Director Muhammad Naeem Ibrahim, footfall has been rising steadily since the opening. He said around 700 citizens are now visiting daily and feedback has been highly encouraging. He added that strict monitoring systems are in place to ensure service quality and more services will be introduced soon.

The centre also offers unique facilities such as a daycare for visitors’ children and a dedicated marriage hall. While citizens have praised the initiative for matching international standards, many have stressed that sustaining service quality over time will be the real test for the government.
