ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority has extended the bid submission deadline for the Construction of the New Islamabad Convention, Expo and Exhibition Centre (NICEEC) after an initial round of responses fell short of expectations. The revised deadline now gives contractors additional time to prepare and upload their proposals through the e-procurement system, signalling a renewed push to secure qualified firms for this flagship infrastructure project.

The NICEEC project, approved last year with a budget of over Rs19 billion, aims to establish a world-class venue capable of hosting national and international trade shows, conventions and major events, and is a strategic part of Islamabad’s future economic and tourism growth plans. Originally advertised in January with a submission deadline in February, the corrigendum now aligns the schedule with market interest, ensuring broader participation and competitive bidding. CDA officials said the change reflects the authority’s commitment to transparent procurement and quality outcomes for a facility that will enhance the capital’s event infrastructure and support long-term urban development goals.
