ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority has accelerated plans to establish a state of the art Model Graveyard at Pandoriyan, aiming to provide Islamabad residents with a modern, well managed and accessible burial facility. The project was reviewed during a high level meeting chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa at CDA Headquarters.
Chairman Randhawa directed officials to finalize the graveyard design without delay and ensure convenient access from major roads to facilitate citizens. He emphasized that the facility must be developed in line with contemporary urban standards to meet the needs of the growing population of the federal capital.
The proposed Model Graveyard will feature spacious funeral prayer halls, properly designed ablution areas and ample parking space to manage large gatherings. Authorities were instructed to ensure smooth traffic flow and organized internal planning within the premises.
The chairman further ordered the provision of an electric hearse and ambulance services to streamline funeral arrangements. He also stressed installation of comprehensive CCTV surveillance to enhance security and monitoring of the site.
Officials briefed the meeting that the project is being planned with a focus on long term sustainability, efficient management and public convenience. The initiative is expected to ease pressure on existing graveyards and provide a dignified and structured burial system for Islamabad residents.
Chairman Randhawa reiterated that timely completion and strict quality control must be ensured at every stage. The Model Graveyard at Pandoriyan is envisioned as a benchmark civic facility reflecting modern planning and responsible urban governance in the capital.
