ISLAMABAD The Capital Development Authority has carried out a major anti encroachment operation in the Saidpur area of Islamabad National Park reclaiming large tracts of illegally occupied public land to restore the natural ecosystem and protect wildlife. The operation was conducted amid growing concern over environmental degradation and unchecked land grabbing in protected zones of the federal capital.
According to official sources the operation resulted in the recovery of approximately 320 kanals of encroached land from the Saidpur valley and adjoining areas of the National Park. The action was taken under the supervision of CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa as part of a broader campaign to safeguard green spaces and public assets.
CDA officials stated that the reclaimed land had been under illegal occupation for years causing damage to natural vegetation wildlife habitats and water reservoirs. Encroachments had also restricted public access and threatened the ecological balance of one of Islamabad most sensitive environmental zones.
The authority said modern tools including satellite geo mapping and digital boundary verification were used during the operation to accurately identify state land and ensure transparency. Heavy machinery was deployed to remove illegal structures while law enforcement personnel remained present to prevent resistance or re occupation.
Following the clearance the CDA announced plans to utilise the recovered land for large scale plantation and nature restoration initiatives. Officials said the area will be rehabilitated through native tree planting soil conservation measures and wildlife friendly development to enhance biodiversity and improve environmental resilience ahead of the upcoming plantation season.
Chairman CDA said the authority remains committed to protecting Islamabad natural heritage and warned that no illegal occupation of public land will be tolerated. He added that similar operations will continue across the capital especially in environmentally sensitive zones to promote sustainable urban development protect wildlife and ensure that public land is preserved for future generations.
