RAWALPINDI: In a decisive push to accelerate governance, the divisional administration has set a strict June 30 deadline for completion of all ongoing development projects across Rawalpindi division, putting district authorities under intense pressure to deliver before the close of the fiscal year.
The directive was issued during a high level meeting of the Divisional Coordination Committee chaired by Commissioner Abdul Aamer Khattak. Deputy commissioners of Rawalpindi, Attock, Murree, Chakwal and Jhelum participated via video link and were instructed to ensure zero delays in execution.
Alongside development targets, district administrations were ordered to finalise beautification plans and immediately launch work to improve urban aesthetics. Officials were also directed to submit practical proposals for upgrading the transport system so that new initiatives could be approved and initiated within the current fiscal cycle.
The commissioner stressed that essential civic services including sanitation, street lighting, road repairs and sewerage management must be completed on priority. He noted that work in these sectors is already underway but requires strict monitoring and faster implementation to meet public expectations.
Highlighting long term urban planning, the meeting was informed that efforts are ongoing to develop a modern and integrated transport system across the division. Authorities were urged to identify actionable measures that provide immediate relief to commuters and improve mobility infrastructure.
In addition, deputy commissioners and heads of health and education departments were directed to conduct regular field visits to hospitals and schools. The administration was also instructed to ensure daily monitoring of SSC examination centres to maintain transparency and uphold standards, reinforcing accountability across key public service sectors.
