ISLAMABAD: The federal government has appointed former Chairman National High Authority Arshad Majeed Mohmand, a BS-21 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service, as Chief Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan with immediate effect.

According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division on March 16, 2026, Mohmand, who was serving as Special Secretary in the Power Division, has been transferred and posted as Chief Secretary of the Gilgit-Baltistan government under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973.

Mohmand has previously served as chairman of the National Highway Authority and held several key administrative positions in the federal government.

He remained posted in NHA for a brief period of time and most of his tenure was in caretaker setup therefore he could not implement most of his policies.

He was very keenly concerned about enhancing the revenue of NHA and was pursuing a target to double the NHA inflows.

Mr. Mohmand is considered as straightforward and hardworking officer amongst the circles.
