GUJAR KHAN: Residents of Nata and Kaak villages in tehsil Gujar Khan have called for immediate reconstruction of severely damaged link roads, saying years of neglect have turned vital routes into impassable tracks. The poor condition of these roads has disrupted daily life and cut off easy access to nearby towns and highways.

According to local residents, a two kilometre road connecting Nata Makhan Khan, Nata Gujar Mall and Nata Mohra to Ahdi More has completely deteriorated. Abdul Qadeer Awan, a social media activist from Nata village, said the road has eroded into what resembles a sewage drain, making movement extremely difficult for commuters.

He said more than 2,000 residents rely on this road daily to reach the Gujar Khan Daultala Highway. School children, workers and elderly residents face severe hardship while travelling, while ambulances struggle to reach the area during medical emergencies, placing lives at risk.

Residents also complained that the poor road infrastructure has remained an unfulfilled election promise for over two decades. Chaudhry Laal Hussain said politicians repeatedly pledged to rebuild the road during election campaigns but failed to take action after securing votes.

Similar concerns were raised by residents of Kaak village, who said the link road connecting their locality with Raman and Ahdi villages has completely collapsed. The damaged road has increased travel time, raised transportation costs and restricted access to essential services.

The affected communities have appealed to Punjab Chief Minister to take immediate notice of the situation and order reconstruction of the road links serving Nata Makhan Khan and Kaak villages. Responding to the complaints, PML N MPA Raja Shauket Aziz Bhatti said codal procedures for revamping the roads have been initiated and the project will be included among priority schemes ahead of the upcoming provincial budget.
