The Capital Development Authority reviewed progress on the Islamabad Slaughterhouse project during a high level meeting chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa at CDA Headquarters. Senior officials including Member Engineering Syed Nifasat Raza, Member Planning and Design Dr Khalid Hafeez, Director General Resource Shakeel Ahmed, Director General Works, consultants, and other senior officers attended the meeting.

The session focused on evaluating the current status and future roadmap of the Islamabad Slaughterhouse project. Officials briefed the chairman that the project will be developed under a public private partnership model, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and long term operational sustainability while reducing the financial burden on the public sector.

According to the briefing, the Islamabad Slaughterhouse will be built on modern and international standards, offering state of the art facilities. These include hygienic slaughtering units, advanced chilling rooms, and fully compliant meat handling systems designed to meet both domestic consumption needs and export requirements.

It was further informed that all facilities at the slaughterhouse will operate under a structured servicing model to ensure quality control and operational consistency. Dedicated commercial areas and a designated livestock trading zone will also be developed to facilitate regulated animal trade and support related business activities.

The meeting also reviewed the financial model of the project. Chairman CDA directed that the final design and operational framework be presented before the CDA Board and the Metropolitan Board for approval. He stated that once completed, the project will not only fulfil meat requirements of Islamabad and Rawalpindi but will also support meat exports to international markets.

Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa emphasised that the CDA is fully committed to providing high quality civic facilities to residents of the federal capital. He reiterated that all available resources are being utilised to develop modern infrastructure projects that enhance public health standards, support economic activity, and improve the overall quality of life in Islamabad.
