Heavy snowfall in Murree and the Galiyat region has severely affected traffic on the Murree Expressway, prompting large scale road clearance and emergency management operations. Following the changing situation, Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has issued strict instructions to ensure continuous monitoring of the expressway and immediate action to protect road users.

At present, the Murree Expressway has been partially opened after intensive snow removal efforts. Heavy machinery and road maintenance teams remain deployed at critical points to keep traffic moving. Authorities have clarified that the expressway may be temporarily closed again if fresh or heavy snowfall occurs, as safety remains the top priority.

Commuters and tourists have been strongly advised to avoid unnecessary travel on the Murree Expressway during this period. Traffic police and district administration are regulating vehicle movement and restricting access when required to prevent congestion, skidding incidents, and accidents on snow covered road sections.

Senior officers from the police, highway authorities, and district administration are supervising operations in the field. All departments have been directed to maintain close coordination to ensure timely road clearance, smooth traffic management, and rapid response to any emergency situation on the expressway.

Weather forecasts indicate the possibility of more snowfall and rain in Murree and Galiyat on January 26 and 27. In view of the forecast, rescue services, emergency teams, and medical units have been placed on standby along the expressway to assist stranded travelers if conditions worsen.

Road users are advised to stay informed through official updates and contact the motorway police helpline 130 in case of emergencies. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining the Murree Expressway, ensuring public safety, and taking swift action if weather conditions force further road closures.
