ISLAMABAD: Newly appointed Chairman National Highway Authority (NHA) Captain (retd) Asadullah Khan has begun reshuffling senior management to improve governance and ensure effective implementation of his vision for the authority.
According to separate notifications issued on Friday, new appointments have been made for the posts of Member Administration, Member Planning and Member South Zone (Karachi), while the authority has also got new General Managers for Revenue and Finance.
In a notable development, Mansoor Azam, a BS-20 officer of the Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service, has once again been assigned the look-after charge of Member Administration. He had earlier been removed from the same position by former NHA chairman Sheheryar Sultan Bukhari. Mr Azam was initially posted to the authority with the backing of Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema but could not retain the slot as the former chairman opted to appoint Omer Saeed Chaudhry, who was brought in from Military Land Cantonment Group.
A BS-20 officer of engineering cadres Abdul Latif Mahesar has been posted as the new Member South Zone. The position had fallen vacant after its previous incumbent was removed on the directions of Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan.
Meanwhile, a BS-20 officer of engineering cadres Sohail Ahmad has been appointed as Member Planning at the NHA headquarters. The planning wing was previously being managed on an ad hoc basis by the Member Engineering Coordination.
Significant changes have also been made in the revenue wing. Ahmed Hassan has been posted as General Manager Revenue, a key position from which the previous incumbent, Taimur Hassan, was removed over allegations of corruption and embezzlement. The prime minister has also ordered an inquiry into the matter.
Additionally, Saif ur Rehman has been posted as Director Revenue (Tech), while Kishwar Ali, who was serving in NHA Peshawar, has been appointed as General Manager Finance at the NHA headquarters.
