ISLAMABAD: In a significant diplomatic and economic development, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik met with French Ambassador Nicolas Galey to review the evolving regional energy landscape and explore new avenues for cooperation in energy and mining sectors.
During the meeting, the French envoy commended Pakistan’s handling of recent petroleum supply challenges, noting that the country had successfully ensured uninterrupted fuel availability despite volatility in regional markets. He described Pakistan’s response as both effective and stabilising at a time of heightened uncertainty.
Ali Pervaiz Malik underscored that Pakistan’s proactive and coordinated strategy played a decisive role in managing the crisis. He highlighted that the government prioritised supply continuity over price shocks, ensuring that petroleum products remained available while safeguarding the liquidity of the supply chain.
The minister further revealed that an efficient inter ministerial coordination mechanism had been established to enable swift decision making in response to rapidly changing supply dynamics. He added that high level diplomatic engagements were instrumental in securing alternative supply routes at critical junctures.
Ambassador Galey reaffirmed the strength of Pakistan France bilateral relations, particularly in the energy domain. He noted that French companies are increasingly showing interest in Pakistan’s mining sector, signalling a growing confidence in the country’s economic potential.
Expressing optimism about future collaboration, the ambassador said French firms are keen to participate in the upcoming Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum. The development points to a deepening partnership that could unlock new investment opportunities and strengthen Pakistan’s resource driven economic growth.
