RAWALPINDI: Punjab Senior Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin visited the RDA and WASA offices in Rawalpindi, where he met beneficiaries of the Punjab government’s flagship Apna Ghar Apni Chhat housing scheme launched under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

During the visit, the provincial minister interacted with families who have successfully built and moved into their own homes under the scheme. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Minister Bilal Yasin, stating that they received housing loans transparently without political influence, bribery, or repeated visits to government offices.

Citizens shared their experiences with the minister, highlighting that the process was smooth, merit based, and free from bureaucratic hurdles. They said the scheme enabled them to construct homes and shift with dignity, calling it a life changing initiative for low and middle income families.

Bilal Yasin reaffirmed the Punjab government’s commitment to ensuring affordable housing through transparent mechanisms. He said the Apna Ghar Apni Chhat scheme reflects the government’s resolve to provide shelter as a basic right and eliminate corruption from public welfare programmes.

On the occasion, Managing Director WASA Muhammad Saleem Ashraf and Director General RDA Kinza Murtaza were also present and briefed the minister on ongoing housing and infrastructure related initiatives in the Rawalpindi region.

Several Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz Members of the Punjab Assembly, party leaders, religious scholars, and a large number of citizens attended the event. Among those present were MPA Raja Hanif Advocate, Malik Iftikhar, Imran Ilyas Chaudhry, Raja Sagheer, Mohsin Ayub Khan, and other local representatives, reflecting strong public engagement with the housing programme.
