RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority has launched a beautification project along the Grand Trunk Road, stretching from DHA Phase I to Phase II and extending to the area in front of Bahria Town. The initiative was launched on Sunday under the special directions of RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza.
The project forms part of the authority’s broader efforts to enhance the urban outlook of Rawalpindi by transforming major traffic corridors into visually appealing and environmentally friendly routes. The drive is expected to improve the overall commuting experience and strengthen civic pride among residents and visitors.
The comprehensive beautification plan includes plantation drives, development of green belts, painting and aesthetic enhancements, and the installation of water pools. These measures aim to create a more pleasant and sustainable urban environment while aligning with approved planning standards.
To ensure long-term sustainability, RDA has established regular monitoring and maintenance mechanisms for the newly developed sections. The authority emphasized that ongoing upkeep is critical to preserving the visual and functional benefits of the project over time.
The RDA Director General said that the initiative aligns with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who has directed comprehensive steps for city beautification. She underscored the importance of such projects in creating a harmonious urban environment where beauty and functionality coexist.
Kinza Murtaza also directed all relevant directorates to ensure timely completion, strict quality control, and effective long term maintenance. She said the initiative demonstrates RDA’s commitment to modern and sustainable city planning, environmental protection, and improving public spaces to enhance the quality of life in Rawalpindi.
