RAWALPINDI: In a key administrative move aimed at strengthening urban service delivery, Punjab Parliamentary Secretary for Housing and Urban Development Sultan Tariq Bajwa visited WASA Rawalpindi to review ongoing operations and future planning for water supply and sanitation in the city.
Managing Director WASA Rawalpindi Azizullah Khan received the parliamentary secretary and provided a comprehensive briefing on operational performance, highlighting both achievements and persistent challenges in ensuring uninterrupted water supply and effective drainage management.
During the high level meeting, detailed discussions were held on upcoming development projects under the Punjab Development Programme. Officials closely examined the technical feasibility and financial viability of these initiatives, with a strong emphasis on ensuring long term sustainability and efficient execution.
Participants stressed the need for improved implementation strategies to maximise the impact of development schemes. Strengthening institutional capacity and upgrading infrastructure were identified as critical steps to enhance service delivery across Rawalpindi.
The meeting also focused on financial sustainability, with officials exploring strategies to boost revenue generation. Improving the complaint redressal system emerged as another priority, with calls to make it faster, more responsive and accessible for citizens facing water or sewerage issues.
Sultan Tariq Bajwa appreciated WASA’s efforts in providing essential services but underscored the need for continuous improvement. Reaffirming commitment, the WASA management pledged to ensure uninterrupted supply of clean water, better drainage systems and efficient infrastructure management while prioritising quick resolution of public complaints.
