ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Saudi Arabia’s ARAMCO are in discussions to initiate joint ventures in Islamabad, focusing on infrastructure development and investment initiatives designed to transform the federal capital into a modern and sustainable city.
CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa met with an ARAMCO delegation on Wednesday to explore avenues of collaboration. The meeting was attended by Member Planning and Design Dr. Khalid Hafiz, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, Deputy Director General Resource, and other senior CDA officials.
Randhawa reiterated CDA’s commitment to transparency and sustainable progress, highlighting that projects under the Joint Venture (JV) framework would attract private investment and secure long-term financial stability for the Authority.
“All initiatives will be carried out in accordance with PPRA regulations to ensure transparency and merit,” he emphasized.
During the meeting, ARAMCO officials were briefed on various ongoing and upcoming projects, including initiatives aimed at improving citizen services and stimulating economic growth. Randhawa also mentioned that several strategic sites across Islamabad have been earmarked for private sector investment, such as the development of petrol pumps in key areas of the city.
Progress on the planned state-of-the-art slaughterhouse was also reviewed, with feasibility studies already completed.
“The project is aimed at promoting meat exports while catering to local needs, thereby boosting Islamabad’s economy and generating employment opportunities,” Randhawa stated.
Special working groups comprising CDA and ARAMCO representatives have been formed to move these initiatives forward.
“Our focus is to enhance urban facilities and ensure Islamabad’s development aligns with modern standards. The CDA remains committed to fostering public-private partnerships that support the city’s growth,” Randhawa added.
