Islamabad: Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan once again blurred the line between public office and private business as he hosted ambassadors and federal ministers at his real estate venture, Park View City, raising fresh concerns about conflict of interest.
The minister arranged an exclusive gathering for foreign diplomats and senior officials at his housing project on the outskirts of Islamabad—an event that appeared more like a promotional exercise than a diplomatic engagement.
This is not the first time Aleem Khan has brought foreign envoys to Park View City. In the past, he reportedly used similar interactions to showcase his private enterprise, sparking questions about the use of official influence to advance personal business interests.
As far instantnce, in October 2024 Aleem Khan arranged a reception at Park View City for Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Investment Sheikh Khalid bin Abdul Aziz Al‑Falih, and a “high-level Saudi delegation”.
Aleem Khan, a property magnate-turned-politician, built his fortune through real estate before entering politics. His company, Vision Group, owns Park View City, one of the most controversial private housing projects in the capital, which has faced multiple inquiries over land acquisition, zoning, and environmental violations.
Despite his position as the federal minister overseeing key national infrastructure, Khan continues to maintain a visible connection to his private ventures—raising ethical questions over the mingling of state authority and personal gain.
Observers say such activities undermine public trust and violate the spirit of transparency expected from federal ministers.
“When a sitting minister invites foreign dignitaries to his own commercial project, it sends a troubling message about the priorities of public office,” said a senior bureaucrat requesting anonymity.
While Aleem Khan’s supporters call him a “visionary entrepreneur,” critics argue that his continued promotion of Park View City while holding a federal portfolio is an open case of conflict of interest that merits scrutiny from relevant authorities.
