Rawalpindi: Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi has achieved a record-breaking revenue recovery of Rs270 million in October 2025 — the highest in the agency’s history — as part of an intensified crackdown on defaulters launched under the directives of Managing Director (MD) Muhammad Saleem Ashraf.

According to WASA officials, the recovery campaign, led by Director Finance and Revenue Rana Shamsur Rehman, has delivered “encouraging results.” The agency recovered more than Rs260 million in September and over Rs1 billion during the first four months of the ongoing fiscal year 2025–26, exceeding the annual target and marking a 30 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

MD WASA Saleem Ashraf attributed the success to effective planning, strict enforcement actions against defaulters, and timely resolution of public complaints. He said the agency’s consistent strategy had not only improved financial discipline but also strengthened WASA’s operational sustainability.

“WASA Rawalpindi is a self-reliant institution that meets its expenses from its own resources. Any negligence in revenue recovery will not be tolerated,” the MD said, while directing the revenue officers and deputy directors to ensure 100 percent recovery from all defaulters. He also instructed immediate disconnection of water and sewerage connections of those who fail to clear dues.

Issuing a final warning to defaulters, Ashraf said that failure to clear outstanding dues would result in penalties, cancellation of installment plans, property attachment, disconnections, and even arrests. He appealed to consumers to pay their bills on time and demonstrate civic responsibility.

Reiterating his commitment to public service, the MD said his office remains open to citizens for complaints and suggestions. “We will continue our journey toward excellence, and no pressure will be tolerated in the ongoing crackdown until the last defaulter is held accountable,” he added.
