RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority has initiated a large scale cleanliness and public facilitation campaign to support the Clean Punjab vision focused on sustainable waste management and healthier urban living. The initiative aims to upgrade sanitation systems, improve water facilities, and ensure cleaner neighbourhoods across multiple housing schemes in Rawalpindi.

RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza instructed the Estate Management Directorate and the Land Development Directorate to begin extensive cleanliness operations in 13 key housing schemes. These areas include Asghar Mall Scheme, Saidpur Housing Scheme, Eidgah Scheme, Dosehra Ground Scheme, Ghazni Colony, Millat Colony, Sherpao Colony, Civil Line and several other localities. The primary objective is the swift removal of accumulated waste along with the implementation of long term preventive measures to maintain a consistent standard of cleanliness.

The drive also focuses on improving sanitary conditions in graveyards located in 64 housing schemes under the RDA jurisdiction. These include Top City, Gandhara City, Mumtaz City, Capital Smart City, Faisal Town, Bahria Town Phase Eight, Multi Gardens and other major developments. Landscaping, waste disposal and the maintenance of surrounding areas are part of the plan to create a respectful and hygienic environment for visitors.

Director General Kinza Murtaza also directed teams to ensure the availability and upkeep of clean water facilities in all relevant housing schemes. This measure is meant to improve public access to essential utilities and enhance living standards for local residents. The initiative aligns with the broader goal of making Rawalpindi cleaner, healthier and more environmentally responsible.

She emphasised that the RDA remains firmly committed to the provincial government’s vision of sustainable urban development. The ongoing efforts underscore the authority’s dedication to creating citizen friendly cities that are well planned and environmentally secure.

According to the RDA, this comprehensive effort contributes to the vision of a Suthra Punjab by ensuring that Rawalpindi’s neighbourhoods remain clean, well managed and equipped with improved water services for the general public.
