Chairman Capital Development Authority and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa held a key meeting with Chairman SUPARCO Muhammad Yousaf Khan at the CDA Headquarters on November 25, 2025. Senior officials from both organisations, including Member Planning and Design Dr Khalid Hafiz and Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, also participated. The meeting focused on strengthening institutional cooperation and using modern technology to support Islamabad’s long term development goals.
During the discussion, both sides explored opportunities to integrate satellite imagery, geographic information systems and drone based monitoring into CDA operations. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa highlighted that SUPARCO’s advanced satellite data would greatly assist in resolving land disputes, identifying encroachments and ensuring swift action against illegal construction in different parts of the city. He emphasized that the adoption of modern technology is essential for improving efficiency and transparency in urban management.
The CDA chief further noted that using satellite based tools would significantly enhance the planning and monitoring of sectoral and non sectoral areas across Islamabad. He stated that the partnership would open new avenues for innovation and create strong support for the city’s ongoing infrastructure development initiatives. Both organisations underscored their shared commitment to promoting technology driven governance.
SUPARCO assured that it would provide full technical assistance for establishing a state of the art laboratory for the CDA. This facility will support research, digital mapping and data analysis to guide Islamabad’s future development. The two institutions also agreed to formalise their cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding that includes academic and training exchanges between SUPARCO and the CDA School.
Chairman SUPARCO Muhammad Yousaf Khan expressed confidence that the collaboration would help align Islamabad’s development strategy with global technological standards. He appreciated CDA’s efforts in accelerating development works across the Federal Capital and reaffirmed SUPARCO’s commitment to long term support.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa concluded that CDA will fully utilize SUPARCO’s technical expertise to enhance planning, improve service delivery and ensure sustainable urban growth for the residents of Islamabad.
