ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Friday inaugurated a two-day Chrysanthemum and Autumn Flowers Exhibition at the newly upgraded Gardenia Hub on Park Road, offering residents a vibrant display of millions of colourful and rare flowers.

Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa formally opened the exhibition and toured its various sections along with Member Administration, Member Environment, DG Environment and officers of the Environment Wing. Officials briefed the chairman on the arrangements, artistic floral installations and preparations carried out for the event.

According to the briefing, the exhibition has been organised after the upgradation of Gardenia Hub Model Nursery one of the largest nurseries in Asia where over 1.2 million plants have been cultivated. The officials said the showcase, centred around chrysanthemum varieties and autumn blooms, holds significant importance as it highlights Islamabad’s expanding horticulture standards.

Thousands of vibrant, rare and specially prepared flowers have been put on display, including species brought from across Pakistan. The exhibition also features international floral creations and modern floral art pieces, offering visitors a blend of local craftsmanship and global horticulture trends.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Randhawa said the event provides an excellent recreational and educational opportunity for residents, particularly young visitors. He said such initiatives help position Islamabad among the leading horticultural exhibition destinations in Asia and enable local gardeners and professionals to learn about new trends and innovations.

The CDA chief appreciated the Environment Wing for its efforts in beautifying the capital and for the meticulous preparations made for the event. He said the Authority aims to transform Islamabad into one of the most beautiful and environmentally vibrant cities through such festivals.

The exhibition will remain open to the public on December 6 and 7, allowing families and children to attend freely. Visitors will also be able to enjoy other activities being held under Winter Festival 2025.

CDA said the colourful and rare blooms, especially the chrysanthemum and autumn flowers, are expected to remain the main attraction for visitors throughout the two-day event.
