The Rawalpindi Development Authority has reaffirmed its commitment to resolving the long standing issues faced by affectees of the University Town Housing Scheme with decisive administrative and legal action. RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza assured residents that their grievances would be addressed on a priority basis in line with government directives.
The assurance was given during an interaction with affected residents where the DG RDA listened to concerns related to plot allotments plot positioning possession delays incomplete development works and access related problems. She stated that the authority was fully aware of the difficulties faced by the public and was determined to provide timely relief.
DG RDA said that following the clear directions of Secretary Housing Noorul Amin Mengal all pending matters of the University Town Housing Scheme would be resolved within the shortest possible time. She stressed that public interest would remain central to all decisions and that no unnecessary delays would be tolerated.
She directed officials of the Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering Directorate Estate Management Wing and other relevant departments to perform their duties without fear or favour. She emphasised that strict and indiscriminate action must continue against illegal practices and individuals involved in violations of housing and urban planning laws.
Highlighting institutional coordination she informed participants that a formal communication had already been sent to the National Accountability Bureau regarding the University Town Housing Scheme. She said this step reflected the authority’s resolve to ensure accountability transparency and protection of citizens rights.
The DG RDA also announced that the blocked access road passing through the Eighteen Housing Scheme would be reopened soon to ease daily commuting difficulties faced by residents. Reaffirming RDA commitment she said the authority would continue impartial enforcement against illegal housing schemes curb fraud and corruption and ensure disciplined urban development across Rawalpindi.
