ISLAMABAD: A large number of residents and landowners from multiple sectors of the federal capital held a peaceful protest in Sector H-16 on Thursday against what they described as unjust and contradictory land acquisition policies of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

The demonstration organised under the banner of the “Mutasireen Alliance” coincided with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to the Danish University and Jinnah Medical Complex in H-16.

Participants included affected residents and landowners from sectors H-16, D-13, F-13, E-13, C-16 and C-13, who said they had not been provided fair compensation or transparently allotted alternate plots despite years-long commitments by the authorities.

They maintained that recent CDA decisions regarding the acquisition of land were against public interest and had further complicated the issues faced by the affected population.

The protesters called for the cancellation of acquisition awards issued under SRO / Google 2008, withdrawal of related notices, removal of bureaucratic hurdles, immediate issuance of allotment letters, and reversal of CDA decisions that they claimed were causing further deprivation of local communities.

A spokesperson for the Mutasireen Alliance said the affected citizens had repeatedly pursued their case through peaceful and democratic means but their concerns remained unaddressed.

“We have long been demanding our legitimate rights, yet the administration has failed to respond. Today’s peaceful protest was a democratic expression of our grievances against CDA’s rigid approach, and our struggle will continue until justice is done,” the spokesperson said.

The protest was staged near the Jinnah Medical Complex and Danish University in H-16, opposite I-16/2, and remained peaceful.
