Pakistan and the World Bank have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in the energy sector, with a strong focus on accelerating reforms and modernising the country’s energy infrastructure. The engagement underscored the importance of sustained technical assistance and long term collaboration to address structural challenges and support economic stability through a reliable energy framework.

During the discussion, Pakistan highlighted the critical role of the World Bank’s technical support in advancing key reforms across the power and energy value chain. Emphasis was placed on leveraging global expertise to improve governance, enhance efficiency, and strengthen institutional capacity within the energy sector. Both sides agreed that continued collaboration would be instrumental in translating reform policies into measurable outcomes.

The World Bank Country Director praised Pakistan’s ongoing reform momentum, acknowledging progress in policy alignment and sector restructuring. The Director reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote sustainable, affordable, and reliable energy solutions while ensuring long term financial viability. This support aligns with Pakistan’s broader goals of economic resilience and inclusive growth.

Discussions also focused on future projects aimed at expanding energy access, improving transmission and distribution systems, and integrating cleaner energy sources into the national grid. The World Bank expressed readiness to explore innovative financing mechanisms and technical models that can attract private investment and reduce systemic inefficiencies.

Both parties highlighted the importance of adopting modern technologies and data driven planning to strengthen energy infrastructure and reduce losses. Enhanced technical collaboration was identified as a key driver for improving service delivery, stabilising supply, and meeting growing energy demand across industrial, commercial, and residential sectors.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to further deepen the Pakistan World Bank partnership in the energy domain. By expanding cooperation through new investment opportunities and targeted technical assistance, both sides aim to accelerate reforms and lay the foundation for a sustainable and resilient energy future for Pakistan.
