RAWALPINDI: Petrol pump owners across Pakistan have urged the federal government to reconsider its current fuel pricing mechanism, warning that frequent revisions are creating growing uncertainty and operational challenges for businesses already working under difficult economic conditions. The demand comes amid rising concerns over the impact of repeated fuel price changes on market stability and day to day business operations.

The All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association has formally appealed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to restore the previous system of revising petroleum prices every two weeks instead of continuing with weekly adjustments. Association leaders argue that the present system is causing serious complications for petrol station operators and creating an unpredictable business environment.

In a letter addressed to the prime minister, Association Vice Chairman Noman Ali Butt highlighted multiple concerns linked to the weekly revision process. He stated that rapidly changing fuel prices are creating significant financial and operational pressure on petrol station owners, making it increasingly difficult for them to maintain business stability and plan effectively.

According to the association, frequent changes in fuel rates have disrupted inventory management and complicated cash flow planning for station operators. Business owners claim that price shifts occurring within short periods leave little room for adjustment and create uncertainty in maintaining stock levels and managing customer expectations.

The association also warned that the ongoing practice could weaken consumer confidence and contribute to confusion in the fuel market. Dealers believe that sudden and repeated fluctuations in fuel prices often create concerns among consumers and increase pressure on businesses responsible for implementing the changes immediately.

Petrol pump owners have urged the government to introduce a fortnightly fuel pricing system once again, saying it would provide stability to both businesses and consumers. They insist that a more predictable pricing mechanism would improve operational efficiency, reduce financial stress and help create a healthier and more balanced fuel market across the country.
