RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority has announced plans to construct a state of the art hospital in its housing scheme Sherpao Colony marking a significant step toward strengthening public healthcare infrastructure in the city. The proposed facility is aimed at improving access to quality medical services for residents while easing pressure on already overcrowded public hospitals.
A high level meeting to review the project was held under the chairmanship of RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza. The session focused on key components of the initiative including site planning infrastructure requirements service delivery models and long term sustainability of the hospital. Senior officials and prominent healthcare professionals participated in the deliberations.
Among the participants were the Medical Superintendent of Benazir Bhutto Hospital Dr Sharjeel Sarfraz Assistant Medical Superintendent of Holy Family Hospital Dr Shazia Zeb former Medical Superintendents of Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology Dr Khalid Randhawa and Dr Mohammad Sohail along with RDA Additional Director General Mohammad Anwar Baran and other senior officers.
Speaking at the meeting the RDA Director General said the hospital would be developed in line with modern healthcare standards and international best practices. She stressed that the project reflects RDA commitment to public welfare integrated urban development and improved quality of life for citizens living in and around Sherpao Colony.
She directed the Director Estate Management to prepare a comprehensive project summary covering technical financial and administrative aspects. The summary will be submitted to the Secretary Housing Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Department for formal approval to move the project forward.
According to officials the proposed hospital will function as a multispecialty healthcare facility equipped with modern diagnostic emergency and treatment services. Once completed it is expected to provide affordable and accessible medical care reduce patient load on major hospitals and serve as a key healthcare hub for Rawalpindi growing population.
