Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday assured the administration of Quaid i Azam University that all encroachments on the university land would be removed, reaffirming the government’s strict zero tolerance policy against illegal occupation of state property in Islamabad.

Addressing a laptop distribution ceremony at the QAU campus, the interior minister said Islamabad was incomplete without Quaid i Azam University, describing it as a national institution that represents students from all regions of the country. He stressed that improving facilities for students at QAU and other universities remained a government priority.

Mohsin Naqvi stated that if any encroachments existed within the university’s 1700 acre land, they would be removed without exception. He made it clear that the government would not only reclaim university land but also retrieve all state owned land currently under illegal occupation across the federal capital.

Emphasising the clarity of government policy, the interior minister warned that encroachments on government land in Islamabad would not be tolerated. He urged illegal occupants to vacate such land voluntarily, adding that enforcement operations would be carried out wherever encroachments were found.

Earlier, QAU Vice Chancellor Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar briefed the minister on the issue, informing him that several villages were still located on university land. He also highlighted the university’s strong academic performance and recent improvements in national and international rankings.

The interior minister announced plans to renovate and beautify QAU’s main entrance and upgrade the university auditorium into a modern facility. He also revealed that Islamabad Vision 2027 would be presented next month, including a proposed University Town project. He further said the National Police Academy would award degrees through QAU, strengthening collaboration between educational and security institutions.
