The Ministry of Housing and Works has informed a Senate standing committee that the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority will not launch any new housing projects until all ongoing schemes are fully completed. The assurance was given amid growing concerns over prolonged delays and mounting frustration among allottees.

The commitment was made during a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works, chaired by Senator Nasir Mehmood. The committee reviewed several stalled FGEHA projects and noted that nearly all schemes launched over the past decade remain incomplete, creating serious trust issues for government employees and private allottees.

One of the major projects discussed was the Lifestyle Residency Project in sectors G 13 and G 14 Islamabad. The project, a joint venture between FGEHA and a private developer, was launched in 2017 and scheduled for completion by July 2020. However, construction has remained stalled since 2021, with work halted at the grey structure stage despite plans to build over three thousand apartments.

The Secretary Housing assured the committee that no fresh projects would be initiated until the completion of existing ones. The committee was also briefed on the bidding process for reviving the Lifestyle Residency Project, with officials stating that Expressions of Interest would be invited by the end of March 2026.

The committee also examined issues faced by allottees of PHA F Residencia on Kurri Road Islamabad. After deliberations, the chairman directed the allottees and PHA management to resolve disputes through mutual engagement and instructed residents to obtain completion certificates from CDA and PHA.

In addition, serious concern was raised over the non payment of salaries to former Pak PWD employees absorbed in various departments. While officials claimed most employees were being paid, the committee directed departments including the Intelligence Bureau to submit detailed compliance reports in the next meeting and assured full support to affected employees.
