ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister Office has taken serious notice of administrative irregularities within the Capital Development Authority, directing immediate reforms to end the widespread practice of officers holding multiple key positions simultaneously.
Sources revealed that Sohail Ashraf has been tasked with restoring institutional discipline and eliminating ad hoc arrangements that have weakened operational efficiency. The directive follows concerns that some officers are managing several roles at once, with reports of one official holding as many as seven assignments.
The issue has intensified after the recent removal of over 200 officers and officials from their positions. While the move was initially presented as an accountability measure, insiders claim that several competent and reputable officers were also sidelined without clear justification.
Officials within the authority have questioned the legality and rationale behind such large scale removals without formal inquiries. They argue that sidelining officers without proven charges not only affects morale but also burdens the institution with unnecessary salary expenses.
The Prime Minister Office has now emphasized the need for a transparent and merit based administrative structure. Authorities have been instructed to ensure that positions are filled appropriately and that responsibilities are distributed in line with established governance standards.
Observers say the latest intervention signals a strong push to reform the CDA’s internal structure and improve its performance. The move is expected to bring greater accountability, streamline decision making and restore public confidence in the civic body responsible for managing the federal capital.
