ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority has intensified its anti encroachment campaign in Sector G 6, targeting illegal constructions built over natural drainage channels in a move aimed at reducing flood risks ahead of the monsoon season.
Officials said the operation is being carried out by the CDA Enforcement Directorate to restore blocked natural drains and remove structures that pose serious threats to public safety. Authorities warned that encroachments over stormwater channels increase urban flooding vulnerability and can trigger severe damage during heavy rains.
The crackdown is part of a wider preventive strategy focused on protecting lives, neighborhoods and critical urban infrastructure before the monsoon begins. Officials stressed that restoring the natural flow of drains is essential to avoid waterlogging and emergency situations during peak rainfall.
According to authorities, illegal construction over drainage routes has become a growing challenge in several sectors, narrowing water passages and putting residential areas at risk. The G 6 operation is being viewed as a key intervention to address these hazards before they escalate into crisis.
CDA officials said prevention remains the core objective of the drive, emphasizing that early action today can avert costly disasters tomorrow. Citizens have also been urged to support the campaign by reporting encroachments that obstruct drains or threaten public spaces.
The latest operation adds momentum to Islamabad’s broader anti encroachment push, with authorities signaling continued enforcement in vulnerable zones. As monsoon preparedness efforts accelerate, the focus is shifting from reactive responses to proactive urban protection measures.
