ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority has launched a decisive enforcement operation at 26 Number along the Grand Trunk Road in Islamabad, targeting illegal encroachments obstructing public land and disrupting traffic movement. The action is part of a broader effort to reclaim the right of way and improve urban mobility in one of the capital’s busiest corridors.
The operation was conducted in close coordination with the National Highway Authority and relevant field formations. Authorities moved in after detailed marking of commercial structures identified as encroaching on CDA controlled land, ensuring that the process remains systematic, transparent, and legally grounded.
According to officials, multiple plazas and commercial extensions had illegally expanded into the public right of way, narrowing the road space and contributing to frequent congestion. These structures were formally identified and marked prior to enforcement, signaling the start of phased demolition and clearance activities.
Heavy machinery and field teams were deployed as the demolition phase began to restore the original boundaries of public land. The CDA stated that the drive is aimed at improving traffic flow, enhancing safety for commuters, and ensuring that urban infrastructure is used strictly within legal limits.
The encroachment removal campaign is expected to continue in phases, with authorities monitoring additional violations along the corridor. Officials emphasized that no illegal occupation of state land will be tolerated, and similar operations may be expanded to other critical areas of Islamabad to ensure long term urban discipline.
This operation reflects the administration’s renewed focus on structured urban development and enforcement of planning regulations. The CDA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting public spaces, maintaining orderly development, and delivering long term relief to daily commuters affected by congestion and unlawful commercial expansion.
