ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA), along with the Islamabad District Administration and other relevant departments, intensified rainwater drainage operations across the capital following early-morning rainfall.

Joint teams from the CDA Sanitation Department, Emergency & Disaster Management, Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and District Administration remained active in the field to facilitate the timely removal of accumulated rainwater and minimise disruption to traffic.

Major roads, interchanges, underpasses and low-lying areas were continuously monitored during and after the rainfall. Dewatering machinery and specialised teams were deployed at vulnerable locations where water accumulation could affect mobility.

Sector E-11 and other sensitive areas received particular attention, with field personnel monitoring drainage conditions and responding to reported water accumulation.

Authorities also carried out urgent clearance of obstructions from drains, stormwater channels and natural waterways to improve the flow of rainwater and reduce the risk of waterlogging.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), along with Assistant Commissioners, remained in the field to monitor operations and coordinate with CDA teams and other departments on drainage and traffic management.

The CDA said available manpower, dewatering equipment and other resources were deployed to respond to rainfall-related issues. Teams were also instructed to reach locations where citizens reported water accumulation or drainage problems.

The authority advised citizens to exercise caution during heavy rainfall, particularly around low-lying areas, underpasses and locations prone to water accumulation.

For drainage-related complaints, citizens can contact the CDA Helpline at 1334, while 16 can be used for emergencies.

The CDA said its field teams will continue monitoring the capital during and after rainfall to maintain effective drainage, safe mobility and normal traffic flow.
