ISLAMABAD: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has invited bids for a series of special maintenance and corridor management works in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including snow and slide clearance operations on key northern routes and the construction of a model check post on N-55.
According to a tender notice published by the NHA (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Region), a total of ten contracts have been announced for snow and slide clearance on N-45 (Dir Upper and Chitral), N-145 (Chitral), and N-95 (Swat). In addition, one contract has been floated for the construction of a model check post at Spina Thana on N-55.
The estimated cost of the snow clearance projects ranges from Rs2.6 million to Rs28.8 million, while the corridor management work at Spina Thana carries an estimated value of Rs41.1 million.
Every year, the NHA undertakes snow clearance operations in the northern regions to ensure safe and uninterrupted travel during the winter season. The maintenance work, especially along the high-altitude sections of Dir, Chitral and Swat, helps keep strategic routes open for local commuters and tourists despite heavy snowfall.
