On the special directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Parliamentary Secretary for Housing Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Sultan Bajwa visited the Rawalpindi Development Authority to review progress on key development projects. The visit focused on ensuring timely execution improved coordination among departments and delivery of tangible benefits to the public.
During the meeting Sultan Bajwa directed RDA officials to complete all ongoing and planned projects within approved timelines. He stressed the importance of interdepartmental coordination to avoid delays and instructed that public interest must remain central to every development initiative undertaken by the authority.
RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza briefed the parliamentary secretary on the authority’s performance current initiatives and future planning. She highlighted major infrastructure projects including the Rawalpindi Ring Road Leh Nullah project rehabilitation of the Metro Bus Corridor and proposed schemes aimed at improving urban mobility and drainage.
The briefing also covered proposed rehabilitation of Murree Road from Flashman to Faizabad and construction of joint check posts at key entry and exit points including Adiala Road Koral Chowk and Chur Chowk. These projects are aimed at improving traffic flow enhancing security and supporting planned urban expansion.
The director general also informed the meeting about the status of approved unapproved and illegal housing schemes in Rawalpindi. She said RDA was taking strict enforcement actions against illegal developments to protect citizens and ensure compliance with planning regulations. She reaffirmed RDA’s commitment to transparency modern urban development and timely project completion.
Sultan Bajwa appreciated the performance of RDA and its role in accelerating urban development across the garrison city. He emphasised the need for sustainable growth effective urban planning and environmental protection. He directed officials to strengthen civic infrastructure and public services to improve the overall quality of life for residents of Rawalpindi.
