The Rawalpindi Development Authority has announced a comprehensive plan to beautify the main entry and exit points of the garrison city as part of a broader urban uplift initiative. A detailed survey will begin next week to identify suitable locations for the installation of iconic monuments and the removal of visual clutter along major corridors.
A senior RDA official said the initiative is being launched on official directives to improve roads and areas under the authority administrative control. The first phase will focus on entry and exit points to create a lasting visual impact for visitors and residents. All encroachments and eyesores along these routes will be removed to give the city a refreshed and organized appearance.
Following the completion of the survey formal proposals will be submitted for approval. The authority plans to mobilize resources by engaging approved housing schemes and private stakeholders who will contribute through donations. Legal housing societies have already been approached to collaborate in beautifying key access points across the city.
In addition to monuments the RDA will also improve the condition of security checkposts located at major entry and exit points. These upgrades aim to enhance both functionality and aesthetics ensuring that infrastructure aligns with modern urban standards.
RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza personally visited areas near Islamabad International Airport and the Peshawar Mor checkpost to review ongoing development activities. During the visit she emphasized the importance of creating landmark features at strategic locations to project Rawalpindi as a progressive and well planned city.
She directed the Engineering Directorate to construct visually appealing and high quality monuments at Mumtaz City Interchange Top City Interchange Chur Chowk on Peshawar Road and Old Airport Road. Stressing strict adherence to quality standards timelines and safety measures she said continuous monitoring would ensure timely completion and tangible improvements in urban aesthetics infrastructure and overall quality of life for citizens.
