Islamabad: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Muhammad Ali Randhawa conducted an early morning visit to review the ongoing construction work on the T-Chowk Flyover project, a key infrastructure initiative aimed at easing traffic congestion at the southern gateway of the federal capital.
During the visit, the chairman inspected various sections of the project and was briefed by project consultants, resident engineers, and the project director regarding the pace of construction. Officials informed that, on the directions of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the construction work is being executed on a fast track basis.
According to the briefing, nearly 49 percent of the total construction work has been completed so far. The piles cap and girders casting have been fully accomplished, while around 60 percent of the protective wall work has been finalized. The team also confirmed that transom work has commenced and that traffic is flowing smoothly despite the ongoing development activity.
The chairman was told that the project is being carried out round-the-clock (24/7) and is expected to be completed within the stipulated timeline. Randhawa expressed satisfaction over the overall progress and directed officials to ensure that the quality of construction is not compromised at any stage.
He further instructed the project team to plan the flyover’s completion keeping in view the future expansion of GT Road and to install security cameras at entry points to enhance monitoring and public safety. The chairman also emphasized beautification measures, directing the inclusion of LED lighting and landscaping as permanent features of the project design.
Randhawa noted that once completed, the T-Chowk Flyover would provide signal-free travel for motorists entering Islamabad from GT Road, Lahore, and other parts of Punjab, benefiting commuters between the twin cities as well as intercity travelers.
“Providing citizens of Islamabad with modern travel facilities and improving urban infrastructure remain our top priorities,” the CDA chairman stated, urging consultants and resident engineers to ensure timely completion with high construction standards.
