ISLAMABAD — The much-anticipated T-Chowk Flyover project in Rawat has entered a major milestone phase, with construction work progressing swiftly and core structural components nearing completion. The project is a vital part of Islamabad’s broader infrastructure plan to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion on the busy Islamabad–Rawat corridor.
According to project engineers, the ongoing work on pillars and deck slabs is being carried out on a fast track, ensuring that timelines are maintained despite challenging weather conditions. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the National Highway Authority (NHA) are jointly supervising the construction to ensure high-quality standards and structural integrity.
Once completed, the T-Chowk Flyover is expected to significantly ease traffic pressure at one of the region’s busiest intersections, benefiting thousands of daily commuters traveling between Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and surrounding suburban areas. The flyover will also improve connectivity to major routes, including the Grand Trunk (GT) Road and the Islamabad Expressway.
Officials confirmed that the project remains on schedule and that the remaining phases — including approach roads, lighting, and finishing work — are set to begin soon. The authorities have emphasized strict monitoring to ensure that all construction and safety standards are met before the project’s official opening.
The flyover forms a key component of the government’s larger initiative to modernize transport infrastructure in the Islamabad Capital Territory. It aligns with ongoing efforts to decongest major urban routes, improve commuter safety, and facilitate smooth intercity travel.
Upon completion, the T-Chowk Flyover will not only resolve one of the area’s major traffic bottlenecks but will also contribute to Islamabad’s goal of becoming a well-planned and efficiently connected capital. The project symbolizes the government’s continued commitment to improving public infrastructure and ensuring sustainable urban mobility.
