The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued a detailed traffic advisory warning commuters about unusually heavy traffic across major roads in the federal capital on December 8 and 9, 2025. According to the advisory, severe traffic congestion is expected on Islamabad Expressway, Faisal Avenue, and Srinagar Highway. The most critical congestion periods are forecast for midday on December 8 and the late evening hours of December 9, when traffic flow is likely to slow due to enhanced movement restrictions.

Authorities stated that the disruption is linked to the official visit of Prabowo Subianto, the President of Indonesia, to the federal capital. Due to this high-level state visit, additional security protocols, road blockades, and managed traffic diversions will be implemented across sensitive zones.

The Islamabad Traffic Police has advised motorists traveling between Islamabad and Rawalpindi to use alternate routes to minimize travel time and avoid potential bottlenecks. Commuters are strongly encouraged to follow real-time traffic updates and comply with instructions issued by traffic wardens on duty.

Residents and office-goers have been urged to adjust their travel schedules, especially during the announced high-impact hours. Transport operators and commercial drivers are also advised to plan deliveries and logistics outside the congestion windows to ensure smooth operations.
