RAWALPINDI: In a significant improvement for residents and tourists, daily water supply to Murree has increased by 8.5 million gallons following the establishment of WASA Murree, marking a major step toward resolving long standing water shortages in the hill station.

The progress was shared during a visit by Punjab Parliamentary Secretary for Housing Sultan Tariq Bajwa, where Murree WASA Managing Director Azeem Shaukat Awan briefed officials on ongoing operations and recent achievements.

Authorities confirmed that installation of water filtration plants across Murree has been completed, ensuring improved access to clean drinking water. Simultaneously, work is underway to upgrade drainage infrastructure, including cleaning of drains and installation of manhole covers to prevent urban sanitation issues.

In addition, dedicated fire hydrants have been installed to ensure uninterrupted water supply for emergency services, particularly Rescue 1122, enhancing the city’s disaster response capacity.

Officials described the establishment of WASA Murree as part of the broader vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to strengthen urban service delivery. Murree, being a key tourist destination, requires reliable infrastructure to handle seasonal population surges.

During the visit, the parliamentary secretary directed authorities to further improve service delivery and ensure timely resolution of public complaints. He praised WASA Murree’s performance, calling it a strong example of rapid institutional progress in addressing civic challenges.
