ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Tuesday launched a fierce campaign against the demolition of homes in several residential settlements of the federal capital, declaring that the issue will be taken to both parliament and the courts. Senior party leaders visited Saidpur Village, where dozens of families say they are facing displacement after generations of living in the historic community.

The delegation was led by Salman Akram Raja and included Shoaib Shaheen. The leaders met affected residents and inspected homes that had either been demolished or marked for removal as part of an ongoing operation in and around the village.

Addressing the media, Salman Akram Raja said PTI had come to stand shoulder to shoulder with the families whose homes were being torn down. He described the situation as deeply troubling and said the demolitions had created fear and uncertainty among long time residents of the capital.

He said many of the affected families had lived in Saidpur Village for generations and had built their lives there. According to him, these residents were now being uprooted without being given a fair hearing or meaningful alternatives. He warned that forcing citizens from their ancestral homes in the name of development was unacceptable.

PTI announced that its lawmakers would raise the issue forcefully on the floor of parliament while the party’s legal team prepared to challenge the demolitions in court. Leaders demanded an immediate halt to the operation and called for transparent consultations with residents before any further action is taken.

The demolition drive has triggered growing concern over housing rights and urban planning in Islamabad. With PTI turning the issue into a political and legal battle, the controversy surrounding Saidpur Village is set to become a major test of how authorities balance development with the rights of long established communities.
