NHMP restores two-way traffic on M-1 as work continues on parts of M-14 and the M-1-Hazara Motorway link
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M-1) has been reopened to all types of traffic in both directions, the National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) announced on Monday.
The reopening restores traffic movement between Islamabad and Peshawar after the motorway was closed last week.
According to the NHMP, several other important routes have also been reopened. The M-14 Islamabad-Dera Ismail Khan Motorway is open between Hakla and Kot Belian and between Isa Khel and Yarik, while restoration work continues on the section between Kot Belian and Isa Khel.
Work is also continuing on the connecting loop between the M-1 and Hazara Motorway.
For motorists travelling from Islamabad towards Abbottabad, the NHMP has advised using the Burhan Interchange, travelling via the GT Road through Hasan Abdal and then rejoining the Hazara Expressway at Jhuri Kas Interchange while restoration work continues on the connecting route.
The N-5 GT Road between Islamabad and Peshawar has also been reopened to all traffic, according to the motorway police.
The reopening restores connectivity on key road links connecting Islamabad with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and surrounding regions, while work continues on the remaining affected motorway sections.
The NHMP has advised motorists to obtain the latest traffic updates before travelling. Motorists can contact the Motorway Police helpline at 130 for information and guidance.
