ISLAMABAD: An important high level meeting was held at the Capital Development Authority headquarters to review progress on major development initiatives aimed at transforming Islamabad into a world class capital. The meeting was chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa and attended by Member Administration Member Finance Member Engineering Member Planning and Design Member Environment and other senior officers.
The meeting conducted a detailed review of proposals for establishing a modern convention center and an international standard expo center in the federal capital. Chairman CDA emphasized that Islamabad must have state of the art facilities before hosting upcoming SCO related meetings and other international conferences. He described the project as strategically critical for strengthening Pakistan presence on the global diplomatic and business stage.
Officials briefed the meeting that multiple options are under consideration for selecting a suitable site for the convention and expo center. The chairman directed that the final location must ensure easy public access efficient traffic flow and adequate parking facilities to meet the needs of large scale national and international events.
Chairman Randhawa stressed that international standards must be strictly followed in the planning design and construction of the convention and expo center. He said the project would play a key role in modernising Islamabad urban profile and aligning it with leading global capitals.
The meeting also reviewed progress on the proposed luxury hotel project aimed at strengthening Islamabad hosting and tourism industry. The chairman directed that the tendering process be further accelerated so that the project can be formally launched next year. He underlined that all procurement processes must follow open transparent and competitive procedures.
Concluding the meeting Chairman CDA stated that no compromise would be made on quality standards in the execution of these mega development projects. He said that upon completion Islamabad would emerge as a major hub for international conferences tourism and diplomatic activities. He reaffirmed that all available resources are being mobilised to develop Islamabad as one of the most modern ideal and globally competitive capitals in the world.
